A Message from the Vice Chancellor

Inspiring our community towards excellence

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur was established in the year 1975 by upgrading historical institute of the Jamia Abbasia. In the past for over three decades, the University has played a major role in furthering the nation’s social, cultural, business and economic development by providing highly skilled manpower.

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur continues to grow rapidly pursuing the vision of being an internationally recognized institution. This is being achieved through improvement in the academic and research policies and facilities; having strong presence in Southern Punjab, with an ever growing students community and diversified academic disciplines. The government is generously providing funds for development projects, scholarships and other incentives for students. These are positive endorsements to continued progress and ultimate goal of being recognized as one of the top academia in Pakistan.

Currently, there are 142 academic departments in the University with an overall students’ strength exceeding sixty five thousand. Major focus of the University has been to maximize educational opportunities, as well as personal and professional advancement of students from diverse backgrounds. We focus on producing a class of people who are not only experts in their fields but also become good citizens of Pakistan. The University offers an array of baccalaureate, masters and doctoral programs. Eminent faculties and scholars provide student-focused highly interactive learning environment positively affecting student lives and the community.

Our strategies highlight the University’s mission and values to meet the challenges, our graduates will be facing over the coming years. We are committed to excellence in teaching and research and continuously review and develop our courses in accordance with future requirements. These strategies will improve and help us realize our ambition to be recognized as one of the leading universities of the region. We are also highly proud of the fact that our graduates are playing a major role in the progress of Pakistan. Furthermore, doors always remain open to them for further support they need.
