The Department of English Linguistics at IUB will host a public defense for PhD candidate Ms. Wafa Iqbal at 11.00 AM on June 2, 2026 at Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Library, Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Ms. Wafa will defend her doctoral thesis titled "Investigating errors in learners' English-Urdu translation: A study based on systemic functional linguistics". She conducted her research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mamuna Ghani, Former Dean, Faculty of Arts and Languages, IUB. In this open defense, Dr. Saba Sadia, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Government Sadiq college women university Bahawalpur, will serve as an external examiner. This research bridges the gap in language learning by showing how systemic functional grammar is transforming error analysis for intermediate students, hence it aims to bring objectivity in the current assessment practices at BISE Multan through its developed rubric.

شعبہ انگریزی لسانیات اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور میں پی ایچ ڈی سکالر وفا اقبال کا زبانی امتحان 2 جون 2026 صبح 11 بجے سر صادق محمد خان لائبریری بغدادالجدید کیمپس میں منعقد ہوگا۔ وفا اقبال اپنے ڈاکٹریٹ کے مقالے کا دفاع کریں گی جس کا عنوان "تعلمین کے انگریزی اردو ترجمہ میں غلطیوں کی چھان بین: نظاماتی فنکشنل لسانیات پر مبنی ایک مطالعہ" ہے۔ انہوں نے اپنی تحقیق پروفیسر ڈاکٹر میمونہ غنی سابق ڈین فیکلٹی آف آرٹس اینڈ لینگویجز کی نگرانی میں مکمل کی۔ اس اوپن ڈیفنس میں ڈاکٹر صبا سعدیہ اسسٹنٹ پروفیسر، شعبہ انگلش گورنمنٹ صادق کالج ویمن یونیورسٹی بہاولپور ایکسٹرنل ایگزامینر کے فرائض سرانجام دیں گی۔
